As springtime goes into full bloom and the dreary days of winter become a distant memory, many people search for different ways to take full advantage of the seasonal shift. Throughout history, pagan groups across the world have indulged in a multitude of practices to enjoy the bounty of spring. Explore these ideas and discover the perfect way to appreciate all that this warm and welcoming time of year has to offer.

Take a Long Walk

When winter is holding the world in an icy grip, plenty of people avoid going outdoors for long stretches of time. If you’re looking to enjoy spring, one of the best habits you can get into is taking a daily walk. For various pagan groups, strolling through nature is one of the best ways to commune with the season. During your walk, pay close attention to your senses. How does the sunlight feel on your skin? Do you hear the call of birds that have been absent since last summer? Connecting with your senses will ground you in the moment.

Create an Altar

One of the best pagan traditions to consider when you’re looking to appreciate the change of the seasons is making your own altar. To start this process, simply find an empty surface in your home that can be used for this purpose. Next, place items that remind you of spring atop the altar. Items can be universal symbols of the season, like flower petals or something more personal like, a piece of jewelry given to you by a loved one during a previous spring. Use the altar as a place where you can stop and ruminate on the season’s offerings.

Clean Out Your Home

Many pagan groups view spring as a time of renewal. However, rebirth is not always possible without first getting rid of elements of the past. To fully take advantage of this season, consider giving your home a good spring cleaning. Get rid of items that no longer serve a purpose in your life and rid yourself of the emotional or mental hold these things have on you. Not only can cleaning your space feel good for your spirit, but research also suggests that an organized home can be a huge benefit to your mental health and overall sense of wellness.

Set Intentions

Spring can be a time of spiritual rejuvenation for many people. It is a time when you can look to the future and think about all you would like to accomplish in the coming months. For many pagan groups, setting intentions is a fantastic way to commit to long-term goals for the season. Sit in a comfortable room in your home, light a candle, and close your eyes. Think about what you want to achieve and visualize how you can take the steps necessary to reach these objectives. You can also write your goals down to create a physical reminder.

Connect With Your Community

Winter can easily become a season of isolation for many people. To truly enjoy the arrival of spring, reach out and connect with your community. Gather together with your friends and relatives for a picnic or outdoor party where you can laugh, eat, and indulge in great conversation. Volunteer with a local nonprofit and discover different ways to give back to those in need. You can even organize a group of neighbors and create a weekly ritual of cleaning the streets. Whatever you decide to do, make your community the center of your arrangements.

Enjoy Everything the Season Offers

From taking a calming stroll through the forest to gathering with members of your community, there are plenty of pagan traditions worth exploring when you want to appreciate spring’s presence. Find rituals that work for you and see how these practices can help you feel the renewing energy of this season.
